Spidery Alien
This Spidery-Alien was made for an independent video game developer. With the prompt to make an alien with hydraulic legs, lime-green eyes, and a fluid sac over its head, this was the final result.
Weapons
Glock 9mm - 19C Gen 4 set
Practice making some weapons for a small video game developer. Rendering the metal is satisfying. The grip and intricate little spacings keep it interesting.
The Tiny T Cells
Just as the pandemic was beginning, a friend asked me to illustrate her children's book, "Talia and the Tiny T Cells", about Covid-19. First among the creatures to create was the T cell.
They had to be cute, confident, and friendly. The T cells' blue color came from medical illustrations of T cells provided to me by the author. Earlier versions of my T cell illustrations had more blobby bodies. As we revised our work for publication, the T cells' bodies became more humanoid. Except for their bunny-like ear blobs, those were too cute to remove.
The Corona Virus / Covid-19
The nasty ol' Corona Virus.
The author and I wanted to the virus to be mean-looking, but not terrifying. I used the round body and green skin to make it look like a booger, and the spiky barbs of the virus poke out from its body in a way that looks more like a petite fart. Of course, everyone recognizes sharp teeth as danger, giving the virus a menacing, toothy face.
Death Out at Night
This was a personal project. I wanted to practice making a stylized skeleton. The night sky was the last thing I made, and that became my favorite thing to swirl around. That, and Death's blue eyeball.
Tree Friend
Another personal project. I wanted to make an homage to R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" Series. A lonely, mysterious location. And a lone eye watching from within a long-dead tree. Perhaps it's a terrified creature. An overgrown squirrel, hiding in shelter. Or, maybe, it's something worse. Something that just wants you to turn around for a moment. It's hard to hear anything but the rain, and if you stop watching the thing in the tree, would it hide, or would it hunt you?
